RE: Fire
i saw this on the forum
the script for fire is ready ooo looks like Zac is gonna film this next. Twitter Exclusive: Writer Brian Michael Bendis has confirmed to me via Twitter that he's just recently submitted his latest draft for the adaption of one of his earliest works, the graphic novel, "Fire". The film currently resides at Universal and tells the story of Benjamin "Ben" Furst, a young, average American citizen and his recruitment by the C.I.A. for Project Fire; a program which seeks to determine whether ordinary citizens can be turned into C.I.A. assassins. The film will star Zac Efron, who will also serve as Executive Producer. This will continue Efron's trend of looking for serious roles that will allow him to shed his High School Musical image. Efron is looking to break into the action genre, with both "Fire" and "The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman," currently For in development |

Turning in a script to a studio doesn't mean jack as far as actually green-lighting it for filming. It's just another vague step in "pre-production," and actual production doesn't always follow. |

RE: Fire
Wouldn't the next step be to find a director once producers approve the script?

Once you have a script you think you can work with, you can't move forward without a director (who then reads the script and has some ideas of his own, so another re-write is started). But directors have been attached to two of Zac's other projects without any further news of progress, so nothing is a sure thing in the movie biz until they actually start shooting. |
