But to me, the film is nothing special /:

In this case, we have to cut them some slack. It's pretty tricky to make a good trailer for a movie that has four or five separate story threads; you really need a separate trailer for each plot arc.

Nothing special? How about Zac Efron's first appearance on screen in almost a year and a half? But I know what you mean. This movie is just a TV sitcom translated to the big screen, no dramatic or cinematic artistry intended (or expected).

It's a prize for Zac. Even though they probably never met, he can now say "I was in a movie with Robert De Niro." That's better than his previous brag, "I met Robert De Niro in a men's room."

Sorry, but last time I checked I was entitled to an opinion.
I don't like either of the trailers, because I don't like the look/plot of the film.
Me saying 'nothing special' means, again, that I don't like the plot of the film, so I'm not going to enjoy it, though I'm still going to go and see it to support Zac.
I don't have to like EVERY film Zac makes.

And I've already asked this before, but PLEASE when you quote someone can you put the part you're referring to in bold?. Don't edit someone's post when quoting.
I noticed how you took out my 'Not really looking forward to it' from my post, which is stating my opinion...

Sorry, I'm not disputing your opinion, I'm pretty much agreeing with you, just offering an explanation why any trailer for this kind of movie will be less than stellar.

Sorry about the editing. To me, it serves the same function as bold facing; your full statement is available above, I just pulled out the parts I'm responding to. I left out the "not really looking forward to it" because that was more or less covered by "the film is nothing special."

So we agree: the trailers aren't very good and this movie won't garner any Oscar nominations.

Okay...
& I'd be shocked if it got any Oscar nominations to be honest. O.o

This is just a fun, cute, comedic movie. i don't think Zac was even expected any awards when he signed up for this movie. he probably just wanted to act in something before he did the paperboy and heartland

No one said anything about Zac. We were talking about the film in general

In particular, he might have been attracted by the chance to perform again with Michelle Pfeiffer, if she was cast first.

I believe he said about this film recently 'It was an excuse to run around New York City with Michelle', but don't ask me where I read it, my memory is like a sieve on some things!
