21 or Older and Mature thread

YOu need to do what is best for yourself to be honest. Sometimes the money is great, but you have to go for your passion. I have learned this about life. Follow your passion, not always the money. Depending on how old you are, if you don't do what YOU like than what's the sense. Go with your dream of what you LOVE and that's that. It might not make alot of money right now, but down the road, do you want regrets. Do alot of praying if you have a faith in your life. If not, then I would talk to a guidance counselor at your school. YOu seem do have a goal in mind, stick to that goal. That is great news and something to be proud of. Happy Holidays

I got my grades for the fall semester and I'm a 4.0 in undergraduate and a 3.74 in my graduate studies.

I hope to finish my thesis this semester but I'm having an occupational crisis. The store manager at my part-time job wants to groom me for management. If I follow this track, in a year or two I'll be making forty to eighty grand.

On the other hand, my passion is writing and my desire is to go to get my doctorate. Doctorate programs are very competitive, but I've no doubt I can do the work. Following this track, however, means another four to six years of school, a whole lot of work, and a good chance at being unemployed for a time and if employed, making less than I would if I pursued management. In addition to this possibility is the stress of deciding between pursuing a literary or a creative writing program. I can do either.

On the other hand (this makes for three hands if you're counting), my professors really think I've got writing talent and a strong, unique voice. Their desire is to see me work towards publication. As you might imagine, it is no small matter getting a text ready to submit to a publisher.

I've got five roads before me and I can follow any path. I've got pressure from management and from professors and from the parental units. I really have no idea what to do, and it's too late in the game to be wrong. I have to make the right choice, but what is right?
