Well, HSM made him famous, but Hairspray killed his college career. Zac was enrolled at the University of Southern California's film school, but he won the part of Link in Hairspray and this movie was filmed in July-November 2006. Since his classes would have begun in September, right in the middle of filming, he deferred his enrollment. Then he had to do HSM2, and so on, so he never actually started at university. I think he made the right decision. Here's a pertinent quote:

"Initially with High School Musical, it was working just to work - I kind of considered it my farewell project to the entertainment industry. I was looking forward to going to film school at the time."

I've always wondered if Zac ever visits his brother at college since he couldn't go himself.

he probably does but i still think he should go to collage i mean look at emma watson she was a huge success in harry potter and she had time to go to collage when she got older

but i heard emma left college. and i think it was right zac didn't go to college since he really wanted to audition to movies and stuffs.
