well the first appeared in seseme street back in the 60s and jim henson who created all the muppets took some away from seseme street and started their own show called the muppet show in the 70s and in the late 70s their first movie got started The Muppet Movie its called.

no seseme street came first and like i said jim henson who created all the muppets took some of the best ones from seseme st and made their own show called the muppet show.
