Starting this again. LOL

Name: Chris
Location: NH
Age: 26
Political Affiliation: Democrat

Because I'm too chickenshit to actually start a Wordpress or Tumblr, I'll just post my musings here. They may be rambling but I'll try my best to keep them as coherent as possible.

Feel free to respond in a reply or a PM. If there's something you want me to write about, again, PM or reply is fine.

Been a while since I posted something; however, I just saw something that truly annoys me.

On a daily basis on converse with a multitude of people; be they customers, friends or complete strangers online. What I am finding is a very disturbing lack of grammatical skills; namely, in the complete spelling of words. For instance, "I don't no who u are."

It is nothing short of pure laziness that we have reached a point in society when that kind of writing is used. Is it really that hard to add the two extra letters to two words? Really? Come on folks. There is a reason the older generations view younger people as lazy and spelling like that is not helping your cause. Any kind of 'professional' writing should be done using; 1) complete sentences, and 2) proper spelling of words.

Yes, we live in a world of condensed 140 character micro thoughts but this does not mean it should permeate our society. About a month ago a customer emailed my work looking for help on something. The email was three (very disjointed) paragraphs, written completely in 'teen talk'/twitter-ese.

Show some common courtesy to those who have to take the time to read your words. After all, words have meaning and "hai" just is plain stupid.

Chris....I couldn't agree more. I think the texting may have something to do with the condensed words, but still learning proper grammar, spelling and punctuation can only be good for the brain.

So, we learned of another gay youth who committed suicide. Another candle snuffed out. Another life gone far, far, far too soon. I cannot imagine what these youths go through. My generation and the one before me are supposed to be open and inviting. And yet, all I see are the stories of bullied teens and I ask myself, "When will it stop? How many more lives is it going to take?"

Quote:We did not seek nor did we provoke an assault on our freedom and our way of life. We did not expect nor did we invite a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of a people's strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arrive.

The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight. They're our students and our teachers and our parents and our friends. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels, but every time we think we have measured our capacity to meet a challenge, we look up and we're reminded that that capacity may well be limitless. this is a time for [] heroes. We will do what is hard. We will achieve what is great. This is a time for heroes and we reach for the stars. God bless their memory.

How many more lives is it going to take?

Welcome to the world of online bullying. sigh.

I sort of like this thread. I think the short slang of the computer world started this and the cell phones with texting. Shortness of being grammatical is not good. People don't like to type out words any more and it is actually very sad. there is so much short slang it's not even funny.
