Max Borenstein will write the thriller "Art of the Steal" for Warner Bros.

Zac Efron is attached to star and is producing the pic with Jason Barrett, Kevin McCormick and David Klawans.

"Steal" is based on Joshuah Bearman's Wired magazine article. Efron and Barrett are producing through their Warner-based Ninjas Runnin' Wild banner and McCormick through his Warner-based Langley Park shingle.

Story centers on a con man who plans and executes a series of elaborate heists, all while leading a double life as an upstanding citizen.

Borenstein is also penning Warner Bros.' feature adaptation of the spy drama "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." His script "Jimi," a biopic about Jimi Hendrix, was on the Blacklist last year and is set up at Legendary Pictures.

Con man? Thriller? Zac's production company? Yes, please.

I think either this or DIAG may be the first movie to come out of Zac's production company.
It says in the article he is producing and starring.
This project is finally getting somewhere

That Livejournal link also presents the latest news; the item about the script writer from Variety is more than a year old.

Apparently, the former thriller is evolving into a kind of comedy. With Zac playing the lead, that's an excellent idea.
I saw that. I noticed it evolved to more of a Catch Me If You Can type of movie which I do not object to.
it kinda looks like a thriller. i can t picture this as a comedy
This movie IS A COMEDY. It's going to be like the movie "Catch Me If You Can"
