Robert Pattinson “Not Attractive Enough” for Twilight Role

Robert Pattinson thinks he isn’t attractive enough to play Edward Cullen in the Twilight series. The British star says he feels High School Musical star Zac Efron would be better suited for the role.
“The Edward in the book is like an enigma of everything that’s perfect about a man. It’s like, ‘He walked into a room and it hurts to see how beautiful he is.’ It’s just kind of embarrassing,” Pattinson tells Look magazine. “I just couldn’t figure out a way to act perfect. I felt like an idiot going into the audition – even having the gall to go in means you’re a bit of an arrogant punk. Who could possibly play it apart from Zac Efron?”

I had read this a while ago. I'm not sure how to take it. I mean, he's either dissing the movie that made him famous and launched his career; or, he's dissing Zac.

Or option C: he isn't dissing anyone and he just honestly thinks Zac could do a better job.

I have no idea where he's coming from with this.

Note: I have never seen or read Twilight and I make no plans to do so. If I want to watch a vampire show/movie, I'll watch one of the Dark Shadows episodes/movies.

i guess he is just trying to say that he feels zac could have been a better edward then he is and that he feels that he is not the perfect edward we think he is.

It seems obvious to me that Rob was being self-depreciative and modest.

He's basically saying even by going for the audition he must love himself and he doesn't feel like he should have got the role.

Basically he doesn't seem to think he deserves his success.
I don't see how anyone could misconstrue that as dissing Zac because he is saying Zac is perfect looking.

He just says that he didn't think: "Well, I won't have to put a lot of work into that character. In the end I got the part because I'm like, you know...perfect."

i definitely don't see Zac as Edward, even if he looks perfect (and i don't think so, he's gorgeous but not perfect).

well obviously he thinks zac is a very attractive man. I dont think he wanted to say that zac is arrogant. he has never ever talked badly about anyone in the business.
I think this article shows how down to earth he is. we all know that he felt akward while going to the audition. and we all know too that he is not arrogant, he is far away from that (from what we see in videos etc, we dont know him!).I think robert is perfect for that role. I love him as edward and he is a great actor.
that just wasnt zacs role. zac is that sunny boy from california. which isnt bad, I love zac (thats why im here ;)). but imagine how much make up that would have had to use for him to make him look pale :D
