[Quote]That's Zac Efron's message to the world of song and dance.
Not only are there no more High School Musicals in his future, but he made international headlines last week when he pulled out of the Footloose remake.
"It doesn't mean no more musicals forever, but right now I had so much fun doing 17 Again that I think that's the direction I wanna head in," Efron told me at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.
And it certainly sounds like he's taking another step in that direction with The Death & Life of Charlie St. Cloud...

It was just announced that Efron has signed on to the movie adaptation of Ben Sherwood's novel of the same name about a cemetery caretaker who communicates with his dead younger brother. Efron admits the premise "sounds very grim," but promised, "It's a fantastic story."

"It's a little bit more grown-up," the 21-year-old Efron said. "It deals with some heavy material."

Everyone is like "omg this is the role he needs" it'll probably end up being the same as every other film he has made. He'll probably drop out once he finds something else he wants to do lmfao.

For Charlie St. Cloud, I think alot will depend on how they adapt the story and what rating they are going for. If it's really not vital to the story, then I can see them skipping it or mearly suggesting that it happened.

The more I read of this story, the more I like it. I'm gonna have to go read the book. It sounds alot like Mitch Albom's work, and if it is, I'll like it alot.

From Borders online

"
Description: "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud tells the haunting story of a young man who narrowly survives a terrible car wreck that kills his little brother. Years later, the brothers' bond remains so strong that it transcends the normal boundaries separating life and death. Charlie St. Cloud lives in a snug New England fishing village. By day he tends the lawns and monuments of the ancient cemetery where his younger brother, Sam, is buried. Graced with an extraordinary gift after surviving the accident, he can still see, talk, and even play catch with Sam's spirit. But townsfolk whisper that Charlie has never recovered from his loss.
Into his carefully ordered life comes Tess Carroll, a captivating, adventuresome woman training for a solo sailing trip around the globe. Fate steers her boat into a treacherous storm that blows her back to harbor, to a charged encounter with Charlie, and to a surprise more overwhelming than the violent sea itself. Charlie and Tess discover a beautiful and uncommon connection that leads to a race against time and a desperate choice between death and life, between the past and the future, between holding on and letting go.
Luminous, soulful, and filled with unforgettable characters, "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud is one of those rare, wise books that reveal the mysteries of the unseen world around us, gently transforming the worst pain of loss into hope, healing, and even laughter. Suspenseful and deeply moving, its startling climax reminds us that sometimes tragedies can bring about miracles if we simply open our hearts. "

The book isn't by Mitch Albom, I equate it to Albom's "Five People You Meet in Heaven," which is a wonderful book. I highly recomend Tuesdays With Morrie. I still have my copy from college and read it at least twice a year if not more.

Charlie St. Cloud is by Ben Sherwood. If your local bookstore doesn't have it, I know borders.com does as does Amazon.com
