hmm With mine, i make the white part transparent, so all u have to do is put it over the picture, anyway, the only thing I can suggest is use the "magic wand" and select the white part and then hit the delete key and it will remove it. dont understand? lemme know......

Take your colored picture, if its not already B/W.
Go to IMAGE/GRAYSCALE then go to
IMAGE/INCREASE COLOR DEPTH/16million colors

choose the paintbrush tool
choose one of the round brushes, prolly the smallest one, you can always make it a little bigger by adjusting the size.
on the color palette choose the color that you want to use. (make sure its the one on top)
go to LAYERS/NEW RASTER LAYER
then "paint" in the color of the part that you want to change.

so for instance you want to make a shirt red. then take the red color and paint over the shirt.....but u gotta like be careful and not go outside the lines, do you get what I mean?

then after youve painted it, then go and set that layer to COLOR (L) and it will change the color of the clothes......or whatever your wanting to color. :-)

Skin color is the hardest for me :-( argh! lol

another way you could probably do it, is select the part you want to color, with the selection tool and then flood fill it with the color you want it. but still make sure its on a new layer and set it to color (l)

as far as i know, what i know, from what i know ;-)

when you start to do something, like for instance do a coloring, and you want to make it a script, then right when you start to do your coloring, hit the "start script recording" and it will record all your moves. then im assuming when your done, youll hit the "cancel script recording" and then it should ask you to save it to your restricted or trusted scripts. I would assume you put it in your trusted scripts. but im not 100% sure. youll have to put it in one and try it and if it doesnt work, put it in the other.

hit the record.......then when your done with the script hit the save button (the disk) instead of the cancel script recording...........then if you made any mistakes(hit the undo), in the options choose "remove all undone commands" click "save materials" that will save the colors......so when you run the scrip the colors will be the same....enter the name of the script and choose where it needs to go and hit save........... :-)

its similar to the magic wand tool, except it changes colors. So if you select a blue striped search, and you change it to green, you end up with a green striped shirt.

once again just paste the picture on there multiple times and erase the background thats around it, then go to ADJUST/HUE-SATURATION/HUE SATURATION LIGHTNESS and put Saturation at -100 and it will make that layer black and white....................

make sure you got them all on new layers

hmm PROBABLY lighten........try lighten and if it doesnt work try darken......
just go through the blending options and see which one u like best.

Well, when i turned a picture black and white in the actual PSP program, it disabled the color changing feature. Im about to try just bringing in an outside black and white photo..

when you make a colored pictures b/w and it turns it to the grayscale.....go to IMAGE/INCREASE COLOR DEPTH/RGB 16 bit (or 16 million colors) and it will turn the color palette back to normal

There is no way to take a black and white photo and turn it into a full color picture. You can either change the lighter colors as a whole, or the darker colors as a whole.

it was just a certain way that jordan was talking about that i wanted to know if he/she could do it that way but its not possible. to color a whole picture u have to use layers :-)

your gonna have to mess around with it a bit with the shades and what not because it wont work for the whole body (because of shadows)

or instead of using the selection tool (im assuming its like a rectangle or circle) then u can use the shape tool and instead of filling it with the color (the background color on the color palette) then just make the background color blank and just use the foreground color which will just make the outline of the shape instead of the filling of the shape???

does that make sense??

Now that you re-post it, i remember seeing it but didnt ever reply. im sorry :-(
to actually get a "GLOW" exactly, then you do that in photoshop, PSP doesnt have it, but hold on one sec....theres a way to get a similar affect but i gotta go find it cuz i dont remember exactly how you do it *Brb*

the way i did it, was put your text.....
edit/copy
then go to ADJUST/BLUR/AVERAGE
click ok
then edit/paste as new layer
then put your text over your old text and it will have a glow around the edge......

see if you can do it that way.......

another way to do it, is just do a drop shadow
and whatever way you have the "offset" set to, do it once one way then go back and if u had it on say -1, and 1, then go back in and put it at 1, -1 and it will make it all around.......

if you cant get it by doing the stroke, then do this.......its a lil confusing so read carefully.

add a new layer. flood fill it with the color that you want around your text.
make a new vector layer and put your text.
use the magic wand (under the selection tool) and click somewhere on the graphic (not IN the text) and it will select everything AROUND the text.........
go to SELECTIONS/INVERT
then go to SELECTIONS/EXPAND choose like 5, click OK.......

then go over to your layer palette and delete the flood fill layer, and the text layer.
then go to edit/paste as new layer

and your text with the outer coloring should be there. :-)

if you cant get it by doing the stroke, then do this.......its a lil confusing so read carefully.

add a new layer. flood fill it with the color that you want around your text.
make a new vector layer and put your text.
use the magic wand (under the selection tool) and click somewhere on the graphic (not IN the text) and it will select everything AROUND the text.........
go to SELECTIONS/INVERT
then go to SELECTIONS/EXPAND choose like 5, click OK.......
then go to LAYERS/MERGE ALL

I have both, but I rarely use PS........just when someone asks me something about photoshop and I dont know the answer then I will go and open it and try to figure out the answer to whatever the question was :-) but 98% of the time I use PSP........just easier for me to understand :-)

the only things ive noticed so far is PS has selective coloring, easier text warping (but u can still do it in PSP) and text "outer glow"........you can almost get the same affect in PSP with drop shadow but not quite the same.......its just easier in PS :-)

yep yep

you can also copy the text layer then go to effects/blur/blur and then paste the text over the blurred text and will get pretty much the same affect :-) or you can just do the blur affect and redo the the text with a different color, if you want a different glow than the text. :-)

im sure theres something but it would probably be more advanced stuff, but most of the people that are wanting to know stuff abotu PSP are beginners, just starting out so its mostly basic stuff, but im pretty good with PSP been playing around with it since PSP 7, and now their up to 12.......sooooooo :-)

oh yeah, things that PSP has that I dont think PS can do is edit/copy edit/paste, i havent ever been able to do that in PS and also in PSP you can resize just 1 layer after youve put it on your graphic, and PSP has PERCENT resize.. :-) soooooooooo alot of people try to find the stuff that PS can do that PSP cant do, but I found stuff that PSP can do that PS cant do :-) so there! hahahahahah

open your pictures
go to file/new and choose a size you want your blend to be
edit/copy one of your pictures
then edit/paste it onto your blank canvas
then do the same for the other picture (s)
then on the right side of the screen there is a layer palette, that says 'raster 1' 'raster 2' etc

at the bottom of the layer palette there is a scrollbar that goes to the right, if your scroll over you will see a drop down menu that says NORMAL, if you click on taht, then thats where your blending options are.......darken, lighten, screen, overlay, etc etc............

so just mess around with the layer blending and then on the toolbar (on the left, or at the top) there is a tool/icon that looks like a pencil eraser........thats the eraser........use that to erase anything on the image that you dont want :-)

that was just a quck lil tut........if you need anymore help, lemme know :-)

if so, on your toolbar (at the left, or up top) there is a text option that is represented by an A, if you click on that, then click on your graphic a text box will pop up. Put your text in there and it should show up and @ the top of psp there is a drop down menu that has all your font names in it, to choose a font name you need to make sure your text in the text box is selected, or it wont change it.

You can't make a picture BIGGER than its normal size w/out making it blurry/pixely.

Not that i've ever come encounter with anyways. Ive always been told that it will get blurry/pixely when u "increase" the size.

well the circle thing is made with the selection tool..........choose your selection tool on the toolbar and then at the top there should be a drop down menu as to what kind of shape you want the selection to be........then select......edit/copy then edit/paste as new layer........--------if you want it B/W go to adjust/hue-sat/hue-sat-lightness and put the saturation at 0 :-)

if you look through the past few pages, there is a "Curved Text Tutorial" for psp that i made... ;-)

at the top of the program there should be 3 options......2 of them are straight lines and one of them is a curved line...use the curved line.

or you can use the shape tool and make a circle and it will do the same thing.

if you change the anti-alias to sharp, sometimes, word icons will look better.
it really just depends on your font, font size and style you're going for.

merge all your layers
then use the selection tool (the dotted rectangle)
then at the top of PSP there is a drop down menu that right now prolly says rectangle, click that drop down menu and choose "rounded rectangle"
make your selection around the picture (make sure there isnt any feathering)
then after you make your selection, go to edit/copy then edit/paste as new img........you got your rounded edges :D make sure you save it as a .png or the transparent background wont stay transparent :(

Do you have it on a semi-colored background?
A soft light layer isnt going to show up on a light background, I don't think.
If it is white or transparent try adding some color to it and see if it helps.
