blending tutorial. (for psp) for photoshop on pg. 6

ok. so a few people know how to make a signature but they aren't quite sure how to blend the pictures. so i'll show you. :)
pick 3 pictures and save them onto your computer.
and its good if they are of good quality.
now open psp or a photo program.
i use psp so if youre using something different you might not get what im saying.
the 3 pictures im using are..

and you dont always have to use 3 pictures. you can use 2+

first crop each picture if there is something on it that you dont want to be on it.
like for example, these pictures have a black border around them and i dont want that.

do that to each picture.
when your done, the pictures should look some what like this.

now, go to file ---> new.
then a thing will come up.
under image dimensions, have the width set at 450 and the height set at 200.
now you can set those at whatever youd like but im just using those for now,
under image characteristics have it set as raster background.
but pick the color of the background youd like. -- for what im showing you now, it doesnt really matter.
and the color depth doesnt really matter either.
but make sure transparent isnt checked, unless you dont want a visable background.
then click ok and the new image should pop up.

now, you can either have the background still on the image or take the background out.
leaving it on is easier.
but to take it out, use the background eraser to erase the background around the image.
then use the eraser to erase the rest of the background.

LEAVING THE BACKGROUND ON.
copy an image, and paste it onto the picture -- where you are making the blend. and do that for the next picture as well.
but before you do that, you can use the arrow tool to place the image where you want.
and make it bigger or smaller.

now, this is what the picture would normally look like

but, click on the eraser tool.
and up at the top, there should be a row of settings, its called the tool options palette.
put the size at 32, hardness at 100, step at 25, density at 100, thickness at 100. rotation at 0, and opacity at 18. -- or just something low.

then just erase the part of the background that is covering the other picture.

now repeat this for the next picture.

and you should end up with something like this.

you can add text and stuff, but im not going to get into that today.
this took me awhile to make.

also, when you make a new image, it normally doesnt upload,
in something like photobucket or tinypic.
so you have to open a new picture and save it onto you computer.
then copy and paste you blend, and crop it so its the right size again.
if that made any sense.

ok, save a picture, any picture.
or another blend onto your computer.
then open it up and copy and paste the blend you just made onto it.
but make sure all of your blend shows on it
and if there is any of the picture that you pasted your blend onto showing,
crop it so just your blend shows.

but how do you make the outline effect? I know you can select it using the lasso tool but once you've done that, where's a great site for backgrounds? Such as the one in your sig, would be an example.

then go to the layers palette
and drag the texture under the image so that its behind the image.

On the picture in the middle Vanessas arm is a bit transparent, but who doesn't make mistakes the first time? ;) And I'm not one to talk, anyway, because I also only made one blend so far *haha*

ok. so a few people know how to make a signature but they aren't quite sure how to blend the pictures. so i'll show you. :)
pick 3 pictures and save them onto your computer.
and its good if they are of good quality.
now open psp or a photo program.
i use psp so if youre using something different you might not get what im saying.
the 3 pictures im using are..

first crop each picture if there is something on it that you dont want to be on it.
like for example, these pictures have a black border around them and i dont want that.

when your done, the pictures should look some what like this.

now, go to file ---> new.
then a thing will come up.
under image dimensions, have the width set at 450 and the height set at 200.
now you can set those at whatever youd like but im just using those for now,
under image characteristics have it set as raster background.
but pick the color of the background youd like. -- for what im showing you now, it doesnt really matter.
and the color depth doesnt really matter either.
but make sure transparent isnt checked, unless you dont want a visable background.
then click ok and the new image should pop up.

now, you can either have the background still on the image or take the background out.
leaving it on is easier.
but to take it out, use the background eraser to erase the background around the image.
then use the eraser to erase the rest of the background.

LEAVING THE BACKGROUND ON.
copy an image, and paste it onto the picture -- where you are making the blend. and do that for the next picture as well.
but before you do that, you can use the arrow tool to place the image where you want.
and make it bigger or smaller.

now, this is what the picture would normally look like

and up at the top, there should be a row of settings, its called the tool options palette.
put the size at 32, hardness at 100, step at 25, density at 100, thickness at 100. rotation at 0, and opacity at 18. -- or just something low.

then just erase the part of the background that is covering the other picture.

now repeat this for the next picture.

Hey! I did it once, but now it's not working. Everytime I go to erase the background on the second pic, it just erases the whole thing..like makes it white..if ya get me lol..I'm really confused =S

Here's the other way to make a blend. I'll be using two pictures. This is in Photoshop.

Make a new image document (for sigs, I use 450x200), but any size will do... and paste your images right on top of another.

Take your POLYGONAL LASSO TOOL (if you can't find it, it might be called the lasso tool.) If it's not on POLYGONAL LASSO TOOL, then right click on the lasso and click Polygonal Lasso Tool.

After selecting your Polygonal Lasso Tool, you'll see a section that says "Feather" and a little box next to it that says "0 px", change that to "10 px"

Make sure the box "Anti-Aliased" is also checked. After that, start outlining the parts you want to delete (the camera man outside of Zac.)

Hey, I know this is really dumb of me but I need help with text on photoshop.
Basically i need a tutorial on how to make it diagonal and like faded into the siggy sort of.. like the set below, but DIAGONAL not horizontal! Can anyone help me?

when you type your text, hit the ctrl button on your keyboard
that should put a box around your text and make you able to rotate it

as for the fading, it kind of looks like a motion blur
duplicate your text layer (ctrl+j)
then go to filter > blur > motion blur
set the angle to -47 and the distance to 31 pixles. then click ok.
set the blurred layer to lighten
erase any of the blur if its covering somewhere you don't want it.

Click on the T buton, and a Text entry box should come up, (after you click on a poem)
type in your text and hit apply, and you can move it, and everything.
(jf you're using psp)

if you're using photoshop
then slick the T button and cick on the image,
and type, it should show up...hope that helps..

The font's you can get from www.datfont.com (http://www.datfont.com)
and for textures and stuff,
i don't use brushes, but for textures go to www.livejournal.com (http://www.livejournal.com)
and click on explore, then type in textures, and there should be tens of thousands of
results, click on one, and browse through till you find some textures you like,
download them to your computer, and paste them onto your image, play around with the options.
like there should be a thing, that says Normal. click on that and play around with the different options.

mine kept popping up with something saying "because of the limitations of the specified file format (and possibly the save options you've selected), the saved file will be limited to a merged image." could tht be because i added something to it after i saved it a first time????
