Zac’s acting career began at age 11, at a local community theater. Zac did his best to jungle his acting career while still attending his local public high school. When he worked away from home, he did his assignments online, through the mail, or over the phone and kept up a 4.3 grade point average. Zac graduated with his classmates in California in summer 2006. Zac has admitted to having a crush on his Summerland co-star Lori Loughlin. Zac was his Summerland co-star Kay Panabaker’s very first kiss! She said, “Then I told him it was my first kiss ever. He said, ‘Really? I hope I didn’t ruin it for you.’ And he didn’t!’” Zac has vision correcting prescribed contacts but he never wears them. Zac is incredibly health conscious and works out often. Zac went bungee jumping while in Canada filming Charlie St. Cloud and has said that he’d also love to skydive! Zac’s father, David, was an electrical engineer who met Zac’s mom, Starla, at the power plant where both were employed. Zac’s sole sibling, his brother Dylan, is four years younger than Zac and graduated high school in 2010. Zac has said, “I like to sing, but I’m not looking for a record label or anything.” He would want to write and sing his own songs however, if he did decide to record an album. For Christmas after getting a role on Summerland Zac got a new surfboard and a wetsuit. Before getting the lead role in the independent film The Derby Stallion, Zac admits he has never ridden a horse! To help Zac prepare for the role of Steven, a boy with autism in the Lifetime Original Movie, Miracle Run, he read a book on the learning disability. One time, Zac and a friend got trapped in a mall by fans and they had to run to leave the place! Zac says as a child he tried “the whole little league thing”. He said he tried both baseball and basketball – and was bad at both! None of Zac’s family has been in show business, but he did have a grandmother who was in the circus a long time ago! To prepare for the singing and dancing in the Disney Channel movie High School Musical Zac and his co-stars of intense dancing, singing, acting, and basketball rehearsals. The woke up at 6 in the morning and worked until 6 at night! Zac and his High School Musical co-stars all became very close. When filming in Salt Lake City, Utah was over and it was time to go home, everyone was devastated. Zac has said, “It was so hard not to be able to go to the hotel room next door and knock,” and “If I could go back and do it again I’d do it in a heartbeat.” The first thing Zac does in the morning is, “sing in the shower!” Zac went to a Cheetah Girls concert in December 2005 and a little girl came up to him and asked for an autograph. He said yes and pretty soon the whole audience wanted one and security had to escort Zac out of the building in order to prevent a riot! They put him in a back alley and said he couldn’t come in until the concert started. Shortly after that his friend and actress Ashley Tisdale was thrown out as well! Kobe Bryant is one celebrity Zac would definitely ask for an autograph from! Zac said if he had $10 to spend at his favorite fast food restaurant he would order “the honey mustard chicken with bacon sandwich from Quiznos. You know heaven? It’s kinda like that!” If he could choose any actress to work with, it would be Reese Witherspoon or Catherine Zeta-Jones. Zac has said he’d like to perform onstage with Tenacious D and work with actor Christian Bale. Zac suffered from appendicitis and had to have emergency surgery to remove his appendix while working on the movie 17 Again in January 2008. Zac does not and will not use any social network (Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, etc) saying he doesn’t have time and that he also values keeping some of his life private. Zac has his own production company under Warner Bros. called Ninjas Runnin’ Wild Prods. and is set to star in and produce upcoming movies from Warner Bros. |
