Warner Home Entertainment has announced that the Nicholas Sparks romance THE LUCKY ONE, directed by Scott Hicks and starring Zac Efron, Taylor Schilling, Blythe Danner and Riley Thomas Stewart, will be available in a two-disc Blu-ray/UltraViolet Digital Copy combo pack on August 28th, 2012.

THE LUCKY ONE follows Logan (Zac Efron), a marine who has served three tours in Iraq and travels to Louisiana to search for the woman he believed was his good luck charm during the war. Since this is based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks, I’m sure there is some kind of heart-wrenching and tear-jerking twist that will make everyone sap up, but hopefully give us a happy ending anyway.

Special features for THE LUCKY ONE include:
Behind-the-scenes featurettes:
Zac Efron Becomes a Marine
Watch The Sparks Fly – The Romantic World Of The Lucky One
Zac and Taylor’s Amazing Chemistry

Millennium Entertainment has set an October 5 theatrical release date for “The Paperboy,” meaning that as the trees start shedding their leaves, American audiences will be treated to the spectacle of Nicole Kidman urinating on Zac Efron.

Directed by the Oscar-nominated Lee Daniels (“Precious”), the idiosyncratic and steamy thriller was a real love it or loath it entry at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The peeing scene attracted the lion’s share of the media attention, as did Daniels penchant for shooting Efron in various stages of undress.

Warner Bros is in talks with Jason Bateman, Zac Efron, Goldie Hawn and Leslie Mann to headline the ensemble of This Is Where I Leave You, the Adam Shankman-directed adaptation of the Jonathan Tropper comic novel about four siblings who come home to sit shiva for their deceased father. They are trapped in the house for seven days, and all the skeletons are bared. Tropper, who memorably adapted Harvey into a script that once had Steven Spielberg committed to direct, adapted his own novel. It is a script that is drawing interest from a lot of talent, with other stars expected to step up for other roles in the ensemble.

Spring Creek’s Paula Weinstein and Jeff Levine are producing with Shankman’s Offspring Entertainment partner Jennifer Gibgot. Hawn, who last starred in 2002′s The Banger Sisters, is in talks to play the clan’s mother. Bateman, Efron (whom Shankman directed in Hairspray) and Mann will play siblings. The intention is to begin production in early September. Shankman just directed the musical Rock of Ages, with Tom Cruise starring.

Nicholas Stoller, who most recently directed The Five-Year Engagement for Universal, is in negotiations to helm the studio’s planned Seth Rogen-Zac Efron comedy Townies.

Universal picked up the project in a bidding war in July, plunking down seven figures on the pitch from writers Andrew Cohen and Brendan O’Brien.

The story sees Rogen as a regular family man who lives near an alpha-male fraternity house and has to contend with a frat member (Efron) whose raucous behavior wreaks havoc on his life.

Rogen and his Point Grey Pictures partner Evan Goldberg are producing. James Weaver, Cohen and O’Brien are exec producing.

Stoller, considered part of the Judd Apatow crew, seems to have made Universal his home in recent years. He also directed Get Him to the Greek and Forgetting Sarah Marshall for the studio. He first worked with Rogen when the latter co-starred on the short-lived Fox series Undeclared and Stoller wrote a trio of episodes.

CANNES — Exclusive Media has acquired all international rights to director Ramin Bahrani’s Zac Efron and Dennis Quaid drama At Any Price and will launch the project to foreign buyers when the Marche du Film gets underway later this week.

At Any Price also stars Kim Dickens (Footloose) and Heather Graham. CAA represents domestic rights.

The film, currently in post-production, was written by Hallie Elizabeth Newton, who often collaborates with Bahrani.

At Any Price revolves around rebellious Dean Whipple (Efron), who is intent on becoming a professional race car driver at the expense of his obligations to his family’s farming empire. His father (Quaid) is intent on his son taking over the business, and when a high-stakes investigation into their business is exposed, the father and son are pushed into an unexpected situation that threatens their entire livelihood.

“The cast in the film is incredibly talented and the universal themes in the story are sure to resonate with our buyers,” Exclusive president of international sales and distribution Alex Walton said. “Ramin Bahrani is an exceptional filmmaker delivering compelling and socially relevant films and we are delighted to be able to present his next project to buyers in Cannes.”

Bahrani made his feature film debut at the Venice Film Festival with Man Push Cart, which won the prestigious FIPRESCI International Critics Award at the London Film Festival and received numerous Independent Spirit Award nominations. His other previous credits include Goodbye Solo and Chop Shop.

At Any Price is produced by Black Bear Pictures, TreeHouse Pictures, Killer Films and Noruz Films.

The deal with Exclusive was negotiated by Walton and Teddy Schwarzman of Black Bear.
At Cannes, Walton also will be shopping third-party titles Therese, Hit and Run, Disconnect, Sundance favorite Robot & Frank and Look of Love.
