Aidan Quinn applauds work of teens who played autistic twins
Thursday, August 05, 2004

Aidan Quinn gives kudos to teen actors Thomas Lewis and Zac Efron for their portrayal of autistic twin brothers in "Miracle Run," the Lifetime movie in which Quinn stars with Mary-Louise Parker Monday night.

"I was kind of amazed at the job they did," he says of Lewis and Efron, the latter of whom is rapidly gaining a fan following via his work on "Summerland."In a short period of time, they learned certain looks, ways of walking and holding their hands - things that are particular to autistic kids that, when you're the parent of an autistic child, you know inside and out."

Quinn's 13-year-old daughter is autistic, which is one of the reasons he was drawn to "Miracle Run" - the true story of a single mother's perseverance to get her sons the best education possible, and of their surprising successes.

"It's a really good picture. I wouldn't confine it to the autism aspect. It's also a whimsical, funny film, we had a gas making it. Doing scenes with Mary-Louise - it's like playing with a great jazz musician. You're never quite sure which way it's going to go. It keeps everything very alive."
