“He was really looking to be sullied, which is why we thought it would be a good idea,” Seth told MTV News of how Zac came to be involved in the film. “I’ve met him a few times over the years and the first thing you get from him is that he knows that a guy like me would probably hate him, and he works directly to counteract that feeling, which shows an amount of self awareness that is not prevalent among many young stars these days that I’ve met at award shows recently. And I think that’s why I thought it would be really funny, he seemed like he was a really cool guy, that he’d be fun to work with and seemed that he was capable of much more than the Disney stuff we’ve seen him in.”
So what exactly will Zac be up to in this untitled, R-rated comedy?
“He’s the president of a fraternity who really does despicable things, as the president of a fraternity would do,” Seth revealed. “We [Seth and his writing/producing partner Evan Goldberg] were just pitching him these ideas, and he was going along with it. We kept looking at each other, like ‘He’s actually going along with this stuff,’ and then he would come up with things that would be pushing it further and we thought, ‘Wow, people are really going to be shocked.’ And so it’s exciting to us.”
Warner Bros. studio has said it is moving up Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling’s The Lucky One from Aug. 24, 2012 to April 20, 2012. The film is based on the Nicholas Sparks’ book of the same title.

This summer, Heather Scoville got to be an extra on the set of Heartland, a dramatic film starring Dennis Quaid as a farmer trying to expand his business and Zac Efron as his rebellious son who wants to be a race car driver. Scoville saw a notice on her Facebook newsfeed announcing something big was going on at the Iowa Speedway, followed by the official press release revealing Zac Efron and Dennis Quaid would be filming at the Speedway on July 16th. As a race fan, Scoville immediately jumped at the opportunity to be a part of Heartland’s crew of extras.
Here’s the lowdown from Scoville’s day on the set: “They were getting footage of the ARCA race as well as Dennis Quaid cheering from the stands. They also had $25 tickets available and 100 lucky people would be chosen to stand down on the track for the part of the movie when Zac’s character is introduced before the race.
My family and I already have season tickets to the races, so I knew we’d get to be there. I quickly messaged my friend Rachel who is the biggest Zac Efron fan I know and she rearranged her work schedule and bought a ticket. A few days later she got a call saying she was one of the lucky chosen ones to be on the track and could bring a friend, which is how I got to go.
During Sunday’s casting call for extras for the untitled Ramin Bahrani film currently filming in DeKalb County, Nicole Liddle half-joked that it would be exciting to see the back of her head in the movie.
“This doesn’t really happen in DeKalb,” she said of Sunday’s filming and casting call at the Egyptian Theatre. “I definitely think for the area it’s unique.”
DeKalb County has received its share of exposure recently, from filming for the Bahrani movie – which stars Dennis Quaid and Zac Efron – in various DeKalb County locations.
The DeKalb County Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced an open casting call on behalf of the “Untitled Ramin Bahrani Film” being shot in DeKalb County this fall.
The movie is an independent film starring Dennis Quaid, Zac Efron, Kim Dickens and Heather Graham.
DeKalb County residents are encouraged to attend the open call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at the historic Egyptian Theatre located in downtown DeKalb, 135 N. Second St. All ages are welcome to attend. No experience is necessary.
